Thoughtful Thursday…how to prioritize, make great tasting pudding, and improve your mood

Thoughtful Thursday

Welcome to Thoughtful Thursday. This GreenNote Fitness newsletter mindfully gathers and distills useful information that is supportive to our journey. It is my mission to educate, inspire, and propel you into action that moves you towards your goals and life of purpose. Take control of your journey today.

Article

“Ruthless prioritization” - that’s what Sheryl Sandberg calls it. I heard this phrase from some clients this week so when I saw this article I had to read it. “I think the most important thing we’ve learned as we’ve grown is that we have to prioritize”, said Sandberg. “We talk about it as ruthless prioritization. And by that what we mean is only do the very best of the ideas. Lots of times you have very good ideas. but they’re not as good as the most important thing you could be doing. And you have to make the hard choices.” Recipe

What I’m eating this week…Chocolate Powerhouse Pudding...

Healthy foods can taste great. Ingredients in this pudding include avocado, organic cocoa powder, organic extra virgin coconut oil, raw honey, vanilla extract and banana. Health benefits:

  • Avocado - has high amounts of monounsaturated fats which lowers the levels of triglycerides. People with diabetes who have triglyceride levels in the body may see their triglyceride levels fall by as much as 20% by eating a serving of two avocados daily

  • MCT in coconut oil encourage the increase of ketone body levels. Ketone bodies have been noted as a substitute energy substrate for the brain

Exercise

What I’m practicing this week…Tai Chi

Tai Chi is an ancient practice dating back to as early as the 1500’s. Often referred to as a ‘moving meditation’, it focuses on flexibility and whole-body coordination. It is similar to yoga in that it is a moving meditation practice. It is rooted in martial arts, a gentle and slowed down version of it. Some benefits of Tai Chi include:

  • Reduced stress, anxiety, and depression

  • Enhanced mood

  • Lower blood pressure and improved heart health

  • Reduced inflammation

  • Enhanced flexibility, balance, and agility

  • Better sleep quality

  • Enhanced immune system

Do you have an open mind? Give Tai Chi a try. Did you miss last week’s newsletter on the five emails you should send each week, gratitude practice and three exercises to do if short on time …?
