Sitting with a group of women (pre-pandemic) for breakfast, they asked me what I do specifically for my health. I happily explained my foray into “cold thermogenesis”, taking hot and cold contrast showers, and wearing an ice vest. Touching upon some of the many benefits including fat loss and immunity boosting, they listened with an open mind and curiosity.
The next morning every single woman I previously had breakfast with had completed a hot and cold contrast shower. I couldn’t believe it! It’s not something most people are accustom with doing in our culture. It is definitely outside of our comfort zone but it has so many benefits - benefits that I have long been encouraging my clients to embrace. Admittedly, my recommendation has been met with a lukewarm reception...

What’s all this business of getting cold? Cold showers? Cold baths? Cold ice vests? It may seem trendy but cold exposure and claims of the health benefits go back to around 400 BC. Clearly not something new but it may be new to you. So let’s get comfortable with being uncomfortable and give this challenge a whirl.

The ebook is very well written with a quick look at the history of cold, the science behind the claims, and exactly how to do it based upon if you are a beginner or well-versed. What I like in particularly about this information is the language around mindset and intention.
