Reflections: Graceful movement, problem-solving in mountain climbing, and the Easter Vigil
I have quite an extensive morning routine - meditation, prayer, mobility, stretching, yoga poses, gratitude - which I have been doing each morning for well over a decade. Sometimes it's a little bit of a struggle as the tug to drive to work sits in the back of my mind. After watching the Apex film and beginning to watch the documentary series, I got renewed inspiration. I really "felt" into each move as I was doing it, connecting body, mind, and spirit instead of "going th

Reflections: My current strength workout; increasing protein; struggling with Dostoyevsky; contemplating the nighttime sky
After being reminded of Dr. Sims' works, I picked up her second book, Next Level - Your Guide to Kicking Ass, Feeling Great, and Crushing Goals Through Menopause and Beyond. Skillfully she explains exactly what our hormones are doing during perimenopause, menopause, and after. Along with proper fueling, she has a specific training protocol for women in this phase of their life. I'm incorporating her protocol into my clients' training as well as my own.

Reflections: Drinking mineral water, books for contemplation and the season of humility, silence, and growth

Much of what I started to discover late in the year, I'm carrying forward now. Namely, creating space and stillness. Where many gyms will be blasting loud music in group exercise classes, I'm drawing a warm bath, sipping hot tea, and taking deep purposeful breaths. In December I put much

Reflections: Hydration for Nourishment, Simplifying Complexity, Being Still
I have really come to know that I need to make things less complex and more simple. I've come to know that I must not neglect my body, mind, nor spirit and instead, pay more attention to them right now. That came by way of feeling drained. Trying to "keep up" with the fast pace of those around me and the feeling that things are getting a bit complex. In other words, I've given myself a big "time-out" to stop. Pause. Think deeply.
