Thoughtful Thursday…Redefining success...

Thoughtful Thursday

Welcome to Thoughtful Thursday. This GreenNote Fitness newsletter mindfully gathers and distills useful information that is supportive to our journey. It is my mission to educate, inspire, and propel you into action that moves you towards your goals and life of purpose. Take control of your journey today.

December - Renewal

For the month of December we focus on renewal. We explore different ways that we can rejuvenate and restore from within. GreenNote Fitness invites you to pause and assess what’s serving you and what can help you replenish.

Observing world-class performers we gain valuable insights of what to do and also we learn from their mistakes or “stepping-stones". No one is exempt from struggles or set-backs; it is part of the human experience. As we know, it’s what we do with these struggles that matters. This was apparent as I listened to a phenomenal interview with Arianna Huffington on the Tim Ferriss Show. You might best know her as founder of the Huffington Post and Thrive Global. Her background is extraordinary. From Tribe of Mentors: “Arianna Huffington has been named to Time magazine’s list of the world’s 100 most influential people and Forbes’ “Most Powerful Women” list…In May 2005, she launched The Huffington Post, a news and blog site that quickly became one of the most widely read, linked-to, and frequently cited media brands on the Internet, and in 2012 won a Pulitzer Prize for national reporting, In August 2016, she launched Thrive Global with the mission of ending the stress and burnout epidemic by offering companies and individuals sustainable, science-based solutions to well-being." Arianna came to the realization that she needed a winter; that she had to make life changes. This became apparent when she broke her cheekbone from a fall due to exhaustion. She underwent MRI’s, CAT scans, and echocardiograms. During this period she reflected on what was truly important in life. From Amazon on her book, Thrive: The Third Metric to Redefining Success and Creating a Life of Well-Being, Wisdom, and Wonder, “[The third metric] includes our well-being, our ability to draw on our intuition and inner wisdom, our sense of wonder, and our capacity for compassion and giving. As Arianna points out, our eulogies celebrate our lives very differently from the way society defines success. They don't commemorate our long hours in the office, our promotions, or our sterling PowerPoint presentations as we relentlessly raced to climb up the career ladder. They are not about our resumes--they are about cherished memories, shared adventures, small kindnesses and acts of generosity, lifelong passions, and the things that made us laugh." During our winter, it is a good time to check in on our well-being... Did you miss last week’s newsletter on the one thing we need for optimal health ...? You wouldn’t happen to know just one person that would benefit from this information? Please forward it to them! To your journey, Lisa Schaffer GreenNote Fitness P.S.
