Thoughtful Thursday…one thing your goals may be missing...

Welcome to Thoughtful Thursday. This GreenNote Fitness newsletter mindfully gathers and distills useful information that is supportive to our journey. It is my mission to educate, inspire, and propel you into action that moves you towards your goals and life of purpose. Take control of your journey today.

New year. Writing down goals. Make sure your goals are SMART. What else do we need to make our goals stick? It’s that time of year again where we are full of enthusiasm for our potential and what we have hopes of accomplishing. We are reminded that we should make goals. We are reminded to be sure to write them down and make them attainable. In today’s newsletter, I’m going to hone in on one thing your goals may be missing and discuss how you can incorporate this one thing into your life. I’m going to share with you a powerful tool to help you realize your potential.

By now you have probably heard about setting SMART goals; making your goals specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and timely. All great things. As we are reminded by Peter Drucker, it’s what gets measured that improves. There is one thing that is missing from these SMART goals. Visualization. Victorious warriors win first and then go to war, while defeated warriors go to war first and then seek to win. ~ Sun Tzu

Visualization is the creation or recreation of an external experience in you mind. It is not only seeing in your mind working towards and accomplishing your goals but also “feeling” it. Feeling the energy in your body. That is conditioning yourself - you see it - you feel it. How can we do this? Each morning “win in your mind first”. That is, spend a minute on each of your goals visualizing accomplishing this goal. Want to loose 5 lbs of fat? Each morning, see yourself in your mind drinking water, eating nutritiously, moving, managing your stress. Take a physical stance of how a healthy person would stand - shoulders back, proud chest, breathing through your nose (no mouth-breathers please)…feeling it. We do this because of the impact our mind has on us - the mind effects performance. When we see in our mind accomplishing something, when we feel it, it helps to create certainty as Tony Robbins explains. That certainty propels us to not stop. And should you start to feel overwhelmed, too much information, too much to do…stop. Just do one next step. And just one next step. And just one next step. Do write down your goals, make sure they are measurable and attainable. Set a timeframe you will accomplish them. And each day spend one minute seeing it in your mind. How good do you want to be? Just remember, “win in your mind first.” To your journey, Lisa Schaffer GreenNote Fitness You wouldn’t happen to know just one person that would benefit from this information?
